The Predictive Tech Walk

! This event is postponed due to Covid-19 !
New date tba

Infrastructural Explorations is a series of walking events during which we invite participants to join us in reflecting on the relationship between the city and its infrastructure through our multisensory and embodied encounters with and in the urban landscape.

This time, our guest-curator Dr Viktor Bedö takes us on a walk in the Deptford area:

"The predictive tech walk is part of a research proposal in the making about predictive technologies for commoning urban resources. The research proposal addresses the technological, social and political preconditions of city-scale infrastructures that succeed in maintaining a commons-minded mode of operation while building on sensing- and data-driven predictive approaches (similar to predictive policing or predictive logistics). During the walk, we will scout visible and invisible potential data sources and speculate about training a predictive module with such data.

The session will start with a short introduction and briefing for the walk. Then we will walk the streets as a group, using some materials to help guide our focus. Finally, we will return to the Goldsmiths campus for speculation and reflection.

We will walk on pavement in the New Cross and Deptford area starting from and arriving back to the Richard Hoggart Building on the Goldsmiths, University of London campus."

--------------------------------------------
As an academic with philosophy and design theory background, Viktor Bedö's research focuses on inventive approaches and methodologies of understanding how the interaction between people, technologies and the built environment in cities works in the present and speculating about how it could work in the future. Viktor is visiting research fellow at the Centre of Urban and Community Research at Goldsmiths, University of London, researcher at the Institute of Experimental Design and Media Cultures in Basel (https://www.ixdm.ch) and founder of Tacit Dimension (http://tacitdimension.com/), an independent street game research lab.
