Goldsmiths Writers' Centre presents exploring writing and publication from the novelist’s and editor’s perspective

Rowan Hisayo Buchanan is a Japanese-British-Chinese-American writer. Her debut novel, Harmless Like You was published in 2016 and won the Author’s Club First Novel Award and a Betty Trask award; her latest novel is Starling Days, published last year and shortlisted for the Costa Award. Both were published by Sceptre; Francine Toon is the editor who acquired Harmless Like You – and now she herself has gone on to publish a novel. Pine, a chilling gothic thriller, which appeared last year to great acclaim, shortlisted for the Bloody Scotland Scottish Crime Debut of the Year and longlisted for the 2020 McIlvanney Prize and the Deborah Rogers Foundation Writers Award. She is also a published poet. Rowan and Francine will discuss the writing process, the editing process, and much in between and beyond.
