Join the Staff LGBTQ+ Network to remember and honour the lives of trans and gender-diverse people whose lives were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence.

Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) is an annual observance on November 20th when we remember and honour the lives of trans and gender-diverse people whose lives were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence in the past 12 months. It is an opportunity to come together with our communities and grieve collectively.

This year, the Staff LGBTQ+ network will be hosting 2 vigils this coming Friday on Microsoft Teams;
The 1st vigil will be at 1-1:30pm (approx.) –
You can join on the date and time here; https://teams.microsoft.com/l/meetup-join/19%3ameeting_M2E0YjAxMmItYWY1Mi00MTE2LTkyMmItMmQ0NDNlOTEwMzA4%40thread.v2/0?context=%7b%22Tid%22%3a%220d431f3f-20c1-461c-958a-46b29d4e021b%22%2c%22Oid%22%3a%22b144b4a1-cde5-4279-86e0-b1e7568bbd13%22%7d

The 2nd vigil will be at 5:30-6pm (approx.) –
You can join on the date and time here; https://teams.microsoft.com/l/meetup-join/19%3ameeting_YmU0ZDdmNGYtMWZmZC00OTk0LWFjNDItY2RmNDM3ZGI1ZjA4%40thread.v2/0?context=%7b%22Tid%22%3a%220d431f3f-20c1-461c-958a-46b29d4e021b%22%2c%22Oid%22%3a%22b144b4a1-cde5-4279-86e0-b1e7568bbd13%22%7d

Event outline:
• Statement of why we are holding the vigil.
• Presentation of TDOR list of names (names will be displayed on screen).
• Call to include any friends and loved ones (by raised hand or entering in chat for us to read out for them).
• Period of silence and joint mourning.
• Ending speech and thanks for attending.

Feel free to mark the period of silence however you wish e.g. by lighting a candle or simply taking a moment of reflection.

The list of names has been taken from https://tdor.translivesmatter.info/reports?from=2019-10-01&to=2020-09-30&country=all&category=all&view=details&filter= and we fully appreciate not all crimes against trans and gender-diverse people are reported or recorded accurately. As a content warning, the website does contain details of anti-transgender violence.

If you require any adjustments to participate in the vigil, please let us know by emailing Dan (Staff LGBTQ+ network, professional services co-chair) at d.lernihan@gold.ac.uk
