Lessons for pedagogy and community building

Dr Vally Lytra (Goldsmiths) will set the context of the panel discussion by reporting on her current research project, “Making sense of teachers and parents’ experiences with online teaching and learning in the Covid-19 pandemic”. Panellists will offer their perspectives on how teachers, parents and students have responded to teaching, learning and community-building during the restrictions and share their vision of the future of community/heritage language learning. The panel features Ms Cátia Ribeiro Verguete (Deputy Director at Instituto Camões UK for the promotion of Portuguese worldwide and PhD candidate in Education at Goldsmiths, University of London), Ms Marianne Siegfried-Brookes (Deputy Chair at VDSS, the Association of German Saturday Schools UK, Director at the German Academy UK, and German language educator) and Ms Pascale Vassie, OBE (Executive Director at the National Resource Centre for Supplementary Education.

Moderator: Dr Froso Argyri, UCL BiLingo & UCL Centre for Applied Linguistics

There will be opportunities for the audience to share their experiences and views, post questions during the event and participate in the open discussion afterwards.

Attendance is free but will require prior registration. The deadline for registering is Tuesday the 8th of December 2020.
