Exciting Ways of Being Creative

'Inspire: Exciting Ways of Being Creative' is a conference hosted online by Goldsmiths' Centre for Language, Culture and Learning, on 15th and 16th April 2021, 9.30am-4.15pm.

The conference will explore through a series of dynamic online workshops and lectures how we can inspire people of all generations to be creative. It is in part a celebration of the publication of Inspire: Exciting Ways of Teaching Creative Writing (ed. Brankin, Gilbert & Sharples: 2020). You can access a free copy of this wonderful book here: https://research.gold.ac.uk/id/eprint/29515/

Many of the conference speakers and workshop leaders contributed to this anthology, outlining how creative writing can be taught in motivating, meaningful and manageable ways. It should be stressed though, the focus will not only be creative writing but also other forms of creative expression: drawing, making objects, music, dance, and using virtual and actual spaces such as computer games, galleries, museums.

Creative educator and author, Niall Bourke, alumni of the MA in Creative Writing and Education (formerly named MA Writer/Teacher) will deliver an important keynote address on what it means to write and teach creatively. Other workshop leaders will cover a host of fascinating topics from experimental and interactive fiction to ‘wild writing’ and ‘creative/critical writing’. There will be plenty of breaks (and some suggested activities outlined below) for you to stay well and focused.

You will be sent a detailed outline of the conference and Teams link after you have registered for the conference nearer to the time of the event.
