The impact of intercultural awareness on the unfolding of Negotiations of cultural understandings
Juliana’s PhD study is about the interrelations of intercultural awareness and pragmatic strategies in the unfolding of Negotiations of cultural understandings. In this presentation, she will share the part of her research where she critically adapts a theoretical model for the development of intercultural awareness (ICA) into an analytical model to assess the impact of displays of ICA levels on the unfolding of Negotiations. Using Conversation Analysis complemented by ethnographic tools, she analyses the interactions of two multilingual faith-based communities of practice located in London.
