Event overview
On behalf of the Goldsmiths Dept of MCCS, ICCE and Critical Fashion Studies Seminar (CFSS) we are delighted to announce our 3rd event.
The fashion industry, at every level, from working conditions, to supply chains, from the capacity to support new start-up entrants to the field, to its ethical responsibilities, has been held to account in recent years, well before the pandemic of 2020. With the full force of the global C19 crisis, companies and retailers, small designers as well as so many working in production and manufacturing, have hovered on the edge. There have been countless discussions about the possible consequences on the longer term, also taking into account the new climate of fashion activism across the globe. All of this gives rise to the question of fashion’s future. Our guest speakers will have a free hand to talk for 10 minutes on the issues which they see as most pressing. This will be followed by a Q and A. We are delighted to announce our panellists as follows:
Baroness Lola Young of Hornsey
Prof Zowie Broach, Head of Fashion Royal College of Art London
Anya Cronberg, Editor Vestoj Paris
Bethany Williams, London designer
Orsola de Castro, Fashion Revolution London
Introduction and Welcome: Prof Frances Corner, Warden Goldsmiths
Chair: Prof Angela McRobbie, Dept of MCCS
The CFSS is a series convened by Dr. Joanne Entwistle (King’s College), Professor Angela McRobbie (Goldsmiths), Professor Agnès Rocamora (LCF, UAL) and Dr. Jane Tynan (Free University Amsterdam).
This is a free event, please register via Eventbrite.
