It will be a two-hour, informal event – with lots of time for questions and discussion.

The provisional agenda is as follows:

1. Welcome and introductions – A brief overview of the current social work profession

2. Why a career in Social Work? Including motivations, rewards, salaries and the areas of practice that qualified social workers engage with

3. Reasons to Join Goldsmiths or UCLan’s Social Work Programmes- the two universities have different routes and pathways to qualification – we will look at what programme suits different people with different experiences. We will also cover issues around inclusion and study support.

4. Listening to the experiences of some current students who are black males and males of colour – including an opportunity to ask students about what it felt like for them.
