Join us to celebrate the life and works of composer and educator Jeremy Peyton Jones, who died in July 2021. This concert will also be live-streamed on our YouTube Channel.

This event in Goldsmiths Great Hall will feature pieces composed by Jeremy performed by members of Regular Music, Goldsmiths staff and students past and present, and special guests. There will be a pay bar in the interval and seats are unreserved but limited.

For attendance at the concert, please book your ticket which comes with a minimum donation of £1 to Help Musicians, which also covers booking fees. We are using this booking system in order to manage numbers at the venue due to ongoing covid restrictions and to raise money for this musician focused charity.

Music to include : Purcell Manoeuvres No 1, 2 and 4, Halelujah (Psalm 150), 18 Guitars, Idyllic Rhythms, and "And Then He Asked Me"

Some of Jeremy’s most notable compositional work was for 10 theatre shows in the 1980s and early 90s (including Deadwood, 1985, at Kew Botanical Gardens in London) directed by Hilary Westlake with texts by David Gale and staged by the Lumiere & Son theatre company.

He wrote music for The Sleep (1985) and Lulu Unchained (1986), both directed by Pete Brooks, and his chamber opera, The Menaced Assassin, was premiered in 1989 for the Royal Opera House’s Garden Venture scheme. He also composed for his own ensemble, Regular Music, over a number of years.
(thanks to article by Keith Potter in The Guardian, 9 August 2021)

Jeremy was a long-serving and much-loved member of staff in the Music Department at Goldsmiths who is very sadly missed.

Help Musicians is an independent UK charity for professional musicians of all genres, from starting out through to retirement. They help at times of crisis, but also at times of opportunity, giving people the extra support they need at a crucial stage that could make or break their career. https://www.helpmusicians.org.uk
