CAL Ecologies in Practice Series

The Vienna based art collective WochenKlausur has worked since 1993, on invitation from international art institutions, to improve sociopolitical deficiencies.

The collective develops small time and site specific proposals aimed at small, but nevertheless effective changes that are taken into action.

Artistic creativity is no longer seen as a formal act, but as an intervention in society.

WochenKlausur has completed over 40 projects in 29 years.

Notable projects include the creation of a mobile medical care clinic for homeless people in Vienna (Secession 1993); the development of an initiative for reusing materials discarded by cultural institutions (Smart Museum & University of Chicago, 2005); establishing a network of experts to realise hands-on projects to support and empower an Inupiat community in Alaska endangered by rising sea-levels (Alaska Design Forum, Kivalina 2012).

Martina Reuter from WochenKlausur will present the work of this internationally known and radical art collective, with space for interaction and questions from the audience.

Further information on WochenKlausur can be found here: https://wochenklausur.at/

*This event will be held online, a link will be sent out to registered participants nearer the time of the event.
