Join Alexis Bennett (fiddle) and Nicola Barbagli (accordion) as they play trad tunes from England, France, Ireland, Scotland, Spain & Sweden on summer solstice - free mead!

Join us on solstice evening for this late night FREE gig in Deptford Town Hall, with 2 leading folk musicians - Alexis Bennett and Nicola Barbagli. Bring your dancing shoes and mead!
This concert will also be live-streamed on our YouTube channel.

Nicola Barbagli studied oboe in Italy at Scuola di Musica di Fiesole and the Scala Theatre Academy. He then graduated from Geneva Haute Ecole de Musique with Maurice Bourgue. He subsequently studied historical oboes with Katharina Sprekelsen at the Royal Academy of Music. He has performed with Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Southbank Sinfonia, Gabrieli Consort, Le Cercle de L'Harmonie, International Baroque Players, Classical Opera Company, Ensamble Zefiro, Oxford Baroque, Cappella Cracoviensis, Geneva Camerata, Kohn Foundation, and RAM Bach cantata series among others. When Nicola is not at 415 or 430hz he can usually be found baking cakes and playing accordion.

Alexis Bennett trained at the University of Edinburgh, Royal College of Music, and the Guildhall School. He has performed widely with early music ensembles including Florilegium, Dufay Collective, London Early Opera, Fellowshippe of Musickers, and Oxford Baroque. He has taught folk music at Dartington Music Summer School alongside Martin Carthy, Eliza Carthy, and Emily Portman. Alexis is also active as a composer and academic, and is Lecturer in Music at Goldsmiths, University of London, and a visiting supervisor at the University of Cambridge. He is working on an edited volume of essays about the portrayal of climate change in audiovisual media.
