Woven Journeys An Exhibition by Alice Birch winner of the Cristine Risley Award 2022

A project and exhibition that highlights the process of exploring the power of hand craft as a medium for visual languages. Aiming to encapsulate the process that led Alice to formulating her own visual language with the method of home weaving in the hope to take ownership of self-surveillance.

Private View 30 September 2022 (11 am - 8 pm)

Workshop:
Join Alice Birch in a workshop that explores the translation of stories into visual languages told through the method of home weaving.

To start the session, Alice will lead a discussion on the importance of using handcraft to develop visual languages and the possibilities in which home weaving can perform in everyday life. In the second half of the session participants will create a D.I.Y weaving loom, which they will use to map out their own stories, journeys or emotions.

With your participation and sharing of this technique you will begin to help form the development of a community led, traditionally hand crafted item of purpose.

No prior experience is necessary and all materials will be supplied.
