Event overview
The digital age has brought about dramatic changes in practices, processes and distribution, but how will it change the role of the media in a volatile and revolving world?
‘The Future of Media’, written by members of Goldsmiths’ Department of Media, Communications and Cultural Studies, and published by Goldsmiths Press, offers a radical, creative and critical take on media industries – and on world affairs.
The Book launch, which will form our third event of the Media Forum Series, opens a roundtable of discussion for students, staff and the public, to debate the changing role and performance of media. There will also be an opportunity to purchase the book and celebrate at the drinks reception for the launch.
Contributors to the book will give very short introductions. They include Daisy Asquith, Lisa Blackman, Clea Bourne, NG Bristow, James Burton, Sarah Cefai, Sue Clayton, Sean Cubitt, James Curran, Natalie Fenton, Des Freedman, Gholam Khiabany, Sandra van Lente, Richard MacDonald, Mirca Madianou, Mathapelo Mofokeng, David Morley, Anamik Saha, Richard Shannon, Daniel Strutt, Milly Williamson and the book’s co-editor Joanna Zylinska.
#goldmediaforum - Debate, dispute, discuss: journalism uncovered
We will address topical, often controversial issues about journalism and current affairs coverage. Key invited speakers will share their insights and discuss hot-button issues.
