Three eclectic, post-genre sets: Iris Garrelfs with Goldsmiths Improvisors’ Collective, Miriam Adefris, Agneesh Dutta, Aleksander Nixon + Pete Furniss

As part of the EFG London Jazz Festival, this lunchtime concert celebrates the spaces in-between Jazz, Electronic, Noise, Indian, Experimental and Contemporary Classical, with original compositions, improvisations, and mixed media. Combining instrumental and vocal creative work developed as part of their Masters programmes in Performance and Sonic Arts, and the BMus in Music degree, graduates, current students and staff combine and collaborate in a spirit of experimentation to explore new meeting places for sonic creativity.

Goldsmiths' Improviser Collective will bring together students and staff from various musical backgrounds and level of study, from 1st year Undergraduates and masters to PhD students. Approaches range from open graphic/text scores and structures to completely free improvisation and the event will feature all manners of instruments, technologies, voices and crisp packets.

Pete Furniss performs across a wide variety of contemporary, experimental and improvised music. In the past decade this has increasingly focused on bringing interactive live electronics and digital technology alongside a long-standing practice of the clarinet and bass clarinet. He is a Lecturer in Performance, Improvisation and Practice Research at Goldsmiths, University of London, where he directs the masters (MMus) programme in Performance & Related Studies. soundcloud.com/pete-furniss/an-errant-soothing-teaser

The curation will also include Miriam Adefris (harp & electronics), Agneesh Dutta (guitar) in trio with Satyajit Chatterji (bass) and Swarnavo Datta (drums) plus Aleksander Nixon (guitar, electronics) with The Neurotic Embassy.

Further event details: Pay-What-You-Can entry (we suggest £10 adult, children free) in advance or on the door, subject to availability/capacity. An event for all ages. As always with this series we endeavour to make our audience feel as safe, comfortable and welcome as we possibly can.
