This seminar series welcomes Penny Woolcock, a freelance filmmaker and writer, to discuss her film "When the Same Road is a Different Road".

Penny's filmmaking practice has explored distinct, often hermetically sealed, communities within the wider society. She has worked with people to tell their stories - on impoverished white estates in Northern England, with Jamaican heritage gangs in inner city Birmingham, homeless people in London and the Pakistani community in Leeds and Bradford.

In this talk, Penny will discuss how stories we tell about race and class, status, resistance, who we are and how we can live together, shape the world.
