Join us for an early evening performance of folk tunes from around Europe, with Alexis Bennett (fiddle), Anna Breger (nyckelharpa) and Nicola Barbagli (accordion)

Deptford Town Hall's Council Chamber give us a taste of folk tunes (and more) from around Europe.

Anna Breger specialises in traditional music on the nyckelharpa and baroque violin. Her international performances range from courtly baroque music, to historical dance music accompaniment, to Scandinavian and Austrian folk music. Since 2016 she has held in Vienna a monthly open jam session with historical tunes and in 2022 her first CD appeared with the ‘Wiener Miniorchester’, including Viennese music from around 1900.

Alexis Bennett is a Lecturer in Music at Goldsmiths, University of London. He also coaches traditional folk music at Dartington Music Summer School. He has performed with a wide variety of ensembles, such as Florilegium, Dufay Collective, and London Early Opera. He has worked extensively as a composer and performer in film, TV, theatre, and collaborations with poets.

Nicola Barbagli studied modern oboe in Italy at Scuola di Musica di Fiesole and the Scala Theatre Academy. He then graduated from Geneva Haute Ecole de Musique with Maurice Bourgue. He moved to UK to play in the Southbank Sinfonia and after that decided to study historical oboes with Katharina Sprekelsen at the Royal Academy of Music, where he was awarded the "San Martino Scholarship" and "Nancy Nuttal Early Music Prize". When Nicola is not at 415 or 430hz he can usually be found baking cakes and playing accordion with his folk band.

Free event, open to all - bring your own drinks and enjoy!
