Event overview
Goldsmiths academics and students give a presentation about their research in a relaxed, friendly environment, followed by a short Q&A session.
Supporting refugees and campaigning for a better future.
Professor Sue Clayton (Goldsmiths, Media, Communications and Cultural Studies) has worked for many years on refugee issues and supported dozens of campaigns to rescue and welcome refugees to the UK. Her film Calais Children: A Case to Answer was screened in the UK High Court and resulted in two important changes in child refugee law.
In this session, Sue will screen The Stansted 15, a short film she made about a group who protested against refugee deportations. She'll also read an extract from her book The New Internationalists: Activist Volunteers in the European Refugee Crisis, which has interviews from over 100 volunteers whose actions have made a difference.
Please note this is a free public event in an accessible space, with refreshments provided.
