This event is an invitation for us to be in conversation about Anti-caste and Anti-fascist Pedagogies and to think through what Debrahminising and Decolonising Education mean and entail. We wish to create a space where we can hear from brilliant educators about the work they have been doing in their many classrooms (within and beyond institutions) and speak to the complexities, tensions, radical possibilities, and futures that shape our pursuit of liberatory educational futures.

We are delighted to have with us Vijeta Vj and Asim Siddiqui with us!

Vijeta VJ teaches Communicative English at St Joseph’s University, Bengaluru, . She writes about teaching and caste, food, books, and films. She is more regular at her blog - rumlolarum (https://rumlolarum.wordpress.com/)

Asim Siddiqui is a faculty of Philosophy and Development Studies at the Azim Premji University India. His research interest lies in Liberation philosophy drawing on South American liberation thought and South Asian anti-caste thinkers for deepening democracy and social justice. He collaborates with several youth focused organisations to facilitate critical thinking and capacity building workshops.

This conversation will be facilitated by Akanksha Mehta and Niharika Pandit

Akanksha Mehta is a feminist queer educator, researcher, writer based in SE London and Pune, India. She is Lecturer in Gender, Race and Cultural Studies at Goldsmiths, University of London

Niharika Pandit is a feminist theorist researching coloniality, militarism & anti-colonial possibilities. She is Fellow in Gender Studies LSE Department of Gender Studies
