Affirmative Cultural Policy for Diversity in the Brazilian Film Industry

In this talk, Dr Juliana Lopes will share reflections on how and why Brazil's federal cultural policy has adopted racial and gender affirmative action into public funding calls to support film production. She will also share the results of her investigation and discuss Brazil's cultural policy agenda, with a focus on the adoption of key concepts such as culture, diversity, social participation, regionalisation and democratisation in cultural production. Dr Juliana Lopes is a Visiting Research Fellow at ICCE, Goldsmiths. She is also a lecturer of cultural production at the Federal Institute of Brasilia (Brazil).
