Ben Woolley in conversation with Adam Mars-Jones about his work and the role of history in fiction and drama.

Benjamin Woolley’s books include the best-selling Queen’s Conjuror, a biography of Elizabeth I’s astrologer Dr John Dee, and Savage Kingdom, the story of Jamestown, England’s first permanent colony in North America. He is an Emmy-award winning writer and presenter of TV documentaries on subjects ranging from the New Middle Ages to Aldous Huxley’s vision of the future. His most recent book is The King’s Assassin, a biographical study of the relationship between King James I/VI and his favourite George Villiers. It inspired Sky TV’s 8-part miniseries Mary and George, currently in production.

Adam Mars-Jones's books include the novels Pilcrow, Cedilla and Caret, part of a million-word sequence, and the monograph Noriko Smiling, about a classic Japanese film. He writes regularly for the London Review of Books and is Professor of Creative Writing at Goldsmiths.

This is a free, in person event and there is no need to register in advance.
