An exhibition taking a People's History approach to wartime Lewisham - part of the Museum of Everyday Life
This exhibition attempts a humble re-balancing to a more traditional approach to Military History.
The displaying of items grounded in the local area provides an invaluable insight into the everyday experiences of the people of Lewisham during wartime, both at home and abroad.
By revealing glimpses into the lives of otherwise ordinary individuals, and the societies they inhabited at such trying times, it is possible to situate the local into the global experience of the World Wars.
The exhibition has been conceived and curated by Jude Pretoria, BA History (Year 2), as part of the Museum of Everyday Life curated by Dr John Price in the Department of History.
The exhibition runs from 13 November 2023 to 29 February 2024 and is freely accessible to the public between 9.00am and 9.00pm every day (apart from public holidays).
