Organised by Ghalya Saadawi (G.Saadawi@gold.ac.uk), Susan Schuppli (S.Schuppli@gold.ac.uk), Adnan Madani (A.Madani@gold.ac.uk), and Manca Bajec

As we live through this historical moment, watching an unrelenting genocide against the Palestinian people, compounded by decades of brutal assaults, apartheid and ethnic cleansing, constituting the long arc of the Zionist, settler colonial state project, we also witness the liberal and imperial political order closes ranks, fascism rear its head in the form of a renewed ethnonationalist Zionism and wider ‘colonialism turned inward’ via Mccarthyist and counterinsurgent Cold War tactics of hearings, surveillance, amped policing, propaganda – subjugation and repression. We wonder: what time are we in? Past and future struggles, as well as new and old historical actors surface.

To understand these, and to attempt to reconcile past, present and future dimensions of the Zionist project and its fraternal political-economic frameworks crystallised in the Palestine question, we propose to read some of the spatial, legal, psychic and cultural dimensions of Zionist settler colonialism, and the struggle against it outside Palestine as the site of persistent anti-colonial, anti-capitalist and anti-racist struggle – what we are calling the architectures of settler colonialism.
