Join us for the MA Visual Anthropology Degree Show! Two nights of film screenings celebrating our students' contributions to expanding multimodal ethnographic practice.

The 2023-2024 MAVIS cohort invites you to screenings that showcase the innovative works produced by students during the last academic year.

MA Visual Anthropology students, with the support of the Centre for Visual Anthropology, present 10 short films in four thematic blocks over the course of two evenings.
Engaging with the politics and aesthetics of representation, documentary and cinema studies, and anthropological perspectives on art, filmmaking anthropologists merge theory with rich, diverse visual practices. The works include both experimental performance, animation and contemporary takes on classic ethnographic film.

The degree show celebrates the diversity of multimodal approaches to visual anthropology and brings together a wide range of themes, including ecology, archive and memory, folk belief and resistance.

Thursday, 12th September - RHB Cinema
Friday, 13th September - PSH LG01-120
Doors open at 17:00h, screenings start promptly at 17:30h
