Join us for the afternoon of TV screening followed by Q&A session with the renowned American film and TV Director, Jamie Babbit

Jamie Babbit’s debut ‘queer joy’ film, But I’m a Cheerleader (1999) was listed by The Independent as one of the top twenty best romantic comedies of all time. Babbit’s career (as director and executive producer) earned her 11 Emmys and 14 nominations, for Outstanding Directing (Only Murders in the Building, 2022), and Outstanding Comedy Series (Silicon Valley, 2017, 2018), and much more. Her TV work includes best quality comedy television, including Gilmore Girls (2001 – 2007), Marvellous Mrs Maisel (Prime, 2017 – 2023), My Lady Jane (Prime, 2024 -), Russian Doll (Netflix, 2019), Girls (HBO, 4 episodes) and many more.

The event will include screening of the awarded pilot episode of Only Murders in the Building (2022) followed by Jamie Babbit's talk about her illustrious career in film and television.

The event is supported by the Centre for Feminist Research.
