Don’t just learn history, experience it. Make it.

Join us on Saturday 6th September 2025 at Goldsmiths for an unmissable Festival of Black History—a one-day celebration of history making in the Black community by academics, history and heritage experts, activists, artists and performers.

This immersive, dynamic festival is packed with practical tips to help you record history, plus talks, film screenings, thought-provoking panel discussions, music, and dance sessions. The festival culminates with a powerful theatre performance, ‘Anatomy of a Black Rebellion’—a new award-winning play.

At the heart of the festival are four strands of history-making: ‘How to’ Workshops – Learn the skills to capture, document, and preserve Black history. New Histories – Discover the latest research and fresh perspectives. About Black History – Engage with leading historians in thought-provoking discussions. Memory Work – Explore personal and collective memories.

Marking 100 years since Malcolm X’s birth, this festival at Goldsmiths is a moment of celebration, reflection, and joy—a chance to honour Black history while shaping its future.
Be part of it. Mark your calendars, grab your tickets here and join us for a day of inspiration, culture, and community!
