Event overview
Or, TAP takes over the Deptford Lounge
Wonder Lounge is a four-day residency at the Deptford Lounge led by artist Stacy Makishi for Goldsmiths Theatre & Performance students. Together with Stacy, the students will be entering into three ‘wonderment days’, taking over the Deptford Lounge. Between the library stacks they might concoct rituals, create installations, offer one-to-one performances… anything and everything that generates wonder for them as they explore the space. On the fourth day, our Wonder Lounge will open to the public.
Stacy Makishi is an internationally acclaimed performance artist, whose most recent work, Walking Each Other Home, explores where and how we gather, how ritual can heal and transform, and how we might build communities of connection – connection to ourselves, to each other, and to inspiration and mystery. A cross-fertilization of live art, theatre, comedy, film and visual art, her work ranges across stage performances, large-scale participatory projects and intimate one-to-ones. Made with a strong collaborative ethos, her solos have been presented in venues across the UK including Southbank Centre, Royal Albert Hall, In Between Time (Bristol), TATE Modern, BUZZCUT (Glasgow), Traverse (Edinburgh) and internationally.
