Join us for a day of interactive experiences exploring migration past, present and future. Curated in collaboration with the Migration Museum’s Community Curators and featuring researchers from Goldsmiths’ new Migrant Futures Institute alongside a brilliant range of cultural and community partners, this free festival invites you to get involved.
Human Rights on Stage with Ice&Fire | Red Room | 12 - 1:30pm
An interactive theatre workshop led by ice&fire, a pioneering theatre company who challenge populist rhetoric on migration will be introduced by Dr Marta Minetti and Dr Natalie Katsou who will lead a walk, reflecting on migration’s current legal framework. Booking required.
Multilingual Mural making workshop | Café space | 1:30 - 3pm
Join us for a fun, family-friendly, hands-on workshop exploring the power of language and creativity! Through drawing, storytelling, and the creation of a collaborative mural, we will uncover how language shapes identity, community, and human experience. Led by Dr Vally Lytra, Dr Thomas Quehl and Faris Sanhaji. Booking required.
Food for Thought | Talk and walking tour | Deptford market | 1:30 - 3pm
Join Goldsmiths researchers and legal experts for an interactive talk and interactive walk through Deptford Market on the politics of monitoring cultures through regulating food. Led by Dr Aysem Diker Vanberg and Dr Jinal Dadiya. Meet outside under the canopy. Booking required.
Singing Workshop for All! | Red Room | 3 - 5pm
This open rehearsal led by Citizens of the World choir invites you to contribute to creating a new collaborative song drawing on your experiences of migration. The workshop will be followed by a performance in the Albany Café space.
Recipes for Resilience | Drop-in stall | Café space | 11am-4pm
Sample cornbread, a dish common to two distant cultures linked by the history of the ‘Choctaw Gift’ to the people of Ireland during the Great Hunger, and learn more about how Indigenous ingredients have become part of global cuisines. Hosted by Dr Shelley Saggar & Dr Padraig Kirwan.
HEY SALAM HOLA BWAKEYE | Exhibition | Cafe mezzanine | 12-5pm
Breadwinners Creative Youth Voices programme presents a compelling display of images and recorded narratives from young refugees, offering an immersive insight into their lives beyond the headlines. This co-created exhibition challenges negative narratives and offers a joyful counter-image, capturing co-creators with power and respect. Come in and meet our community!
A marketplace of local organisations will take place throughout the day.
Activities include references to the challenges faced by migrants and refugees in the UK.
This event is part of Being Human Festival, the UK’s national festival of the humanities, taking place 6-15 November 2025. Being Human is led by the School of Advanced Study, University of London, with generous support from Research England, in partnership with the AHRC and the British Academy.
