MMus student Lucy Havelock performs music for soprano and alto saxophone by Scelsi, McLaughlin and Mary Jane Leach, plus 3 of her own pieces for her final recital.

Programme:
Giacinto Scelsi: Tre Pezzi
Scott McLaughlin: Repetition weaves difference weaves repetition (and so on)
Mary Jane Leach: Dowland's Tears
Lucy Havelock: Improvisation / new work

Lucy Havelock is a saxophonist/composer/improviser originally from Manchester, currently based in London. Lucy explores microtonality and timbre through experiments in looping, weaving, and pedalling. Her practice relies heavily on the boundaries of the saxophone, and the limits of sound production using a breath-controlled instrument and human body. She will perform music by Giacinto Scelsi, Scott McLaughlin, and Mary Jane Leach alongside a set of newly worked/ improvised music from her upcoming album.

PureGold: our annual festival of eclectic, innovative and exciting work coming out of the Department of Music. Videos will be posted on our festival website and also YouTube

Performances in the George Wood Theatre are free and open to all
