Event overview
Canadian artist and researcher Prof Kathryn Ricketts will explore her work accross dance, improvisation, story telling, AI sound and art
Prof Kathryn Ricketts is visiting us from Vancouver, Canada. Drawing in improvisation, she has articulated the methodology Embodied Poetic Narrative which is focused on developing individual and collective ‘voice’ through poetic performances and writing with vulnerable populations using artifacts and personal narratives. She has 4 performative research characters which she performs regularly. These characters become a kind of kinaesthetic conduit for the stories of others. Sometimes these are stories that have been silenced and/or never been told. In this way, her practice-based research works as a catalyst for community building within an emancipatory process.
In this talk she will be exploring these characters and her recent work with AI, art and sound, in particular her work with Musebots – intelligent musical agents designed by Arne Eigenfeldt.
