Event overview
Professor David Gillborn, Centre for Research in Race and Education, University of Birmingham
Hosted by the Centre for Identities and Social Justice
Critical Race Theory (CRT) came to prominence in 2020 when, as part of an orchestrated campaign to shut down antiracist reform, it was misrepresented and attacked by numerous conservative think tanks, politicians and social media influencers on both sides of the Atlantic. One of the most common attack lines was that CRT is an American ‘import’ that has no relevance to the UK. In this talk I examine the nature of the Transatlantic politics of racism and explore the deep roots of white racist politics currently shaping the UK policy agenda.
The event is hybrid. It will take place at Deptford Town Hall, room 102, Goldsmiths, University of London, 5.30-7.00 pm (London). Registered attendees will receive the unique Zoom join link via an email from the event host, after they complete the registration process.
