Event overview
Learn how foresight, design research, and industry insight combine to envision inclusive and sustainable futures for convergent media production.
Representatives from the CoSTAR Foresight Lab will introduce the principles and working methods of their interdisciplinary research group, which investigates the future of media production through a unique combination of foresight, design thinking, behavioural science, and creative technology.
This session will explore how the Lab uses these approaches to imagine futures that are desirable, achievable, inclusive, and sustainable - for artists, audiences, technologists, and engineers alike. Bringing together foresight practitioners from Goldsmiths and i2 media research, industry insight specialists from the BFI, and policy advisers from Loughborough University, the presentation will share highlights from the first year of their investigation on convergent media production.
The CoSTAR Foresight Lab forms part of the wider CoSTAR Network: the UK’s largest ever investment in Creative Industries R&D, funded through a £75.6 million UKRI Infrastructure Fund grant delivered by the Arts and Humanities Research Council. CoSTAR is establishing the first national R&D infrastructure for the Creative Industries, combining world-leading facilities, technologies, and research to power innovation and sustainable growth across the sector.
