Our next event is 'Activism in the Archives' which will be held at Goldsmiths Library in New Cross. This event is in collaboration with Lewisham Libraries.
Head of Goldsmiths Special Collections and Archives, Hannah Stageman, will give a talk on the history of the Women's Art Library and the Women of Colour Index (WOCI), and how this work remains ongoing and relevant to the arts.
Senior Library Assistant Emma Raymond will explore some of Goldsmiths’ collection of political songbooks, workers’ songs and musical scores, including rare books and archive material from the personal collections of Ewan Maccoll and Peggy Seeger, Bert Lloyd and Alan Bush.
Curator of the Goldsmiths Textile Collection Ruby Hodgson will reveal how textiles become tools for change - from personal acts of stitched resistance through folk embroidery to attention-grabbing activist artworks.
