Event overview
"Wanderlust" Plus-Minus Ensemble is joined by Berlin based duo Nina Guo (soprano) and Joseph Houston (piano) for two sets with very different flavours.
We are thrilled to welcome contemporary specialists Plus-Minus Ensemble to Goldsmiths. The first half features idiosyncratic songs from Ives, Walshe and Shlomowitz that traverse the silly, exuberant, poetic, dramatic, melodramatic and neurotic.
In the second half, in his 90th birthday year, we present Helmut Lachenmann’s thrilling and virtuosic trio which builds on the interplay between resonance and motion.
Programme:
Jennifer Walshe: Twelve climate change songs
Charles Ives: selected songs
Matthew Shlomowitz: Four Songs (lyrics by Harry Blake)
performed by Nina Guo (soprano) and Joseph Houston (piano)
Interval
Helmut Lachenmann: Allegro sostenuto, performed by Plus-Minus Ensemble: Vicky Wright (clarinets), Alice Purton (cello), Mark Knoop (piano)
