Join the GWC for a screening and Q&A with the KlimaSeniorinnen, Swiss Senior Women for Climate Protection

Climate protection is a human right.

Join us at Goldsmiths Writers’ Centre for a screening of TROP CHAUD/Beat the Heat, the documentary film that takes a moving look behind the scenes of the journey of the KlimaSeniorinnen – Swiss Senior Women for Climate Protection – and their landmark victory before the European Court of Human Rights.

Following the screening, we will have the chance to meet some of the KlimaSeniorinnen themselves, hear more about their journey and experiences, and spend some time together reflecting on the stories, questions and possibilities raised by the film. The event will finish with a short reflective activity, inviting us to respond to the film through words, imagination and our own experiences.

This event is part of the KlimaSeniorinnen European Tour 2026, a journey across Europe bringing the film and the women behind the landmark case into conversation with communities, activists, lawyers, academics, artists and writers. Following the UK visit, the KlimaSeniorinnen will continue travelling across Europe, with stops currently planned in more than 11 countries.

At its heart, this is a story about collective action, courage and the power of ordinary people to create change – and an invitation to imagine what becomes possible when we come together to protect people and the planet.

They would like to see an objective discussion about the ECtHR ruling and the consequences for our country. Human rights are neither left nor right, but universal. Human rights protect us all. Climate protection that upholds human rights benefits us all.
