Day three of a three day digital and live art event

Intimacy is a three day digital and live art event designed to address diverse responses to ‘being intimate’ in contemporary performance and life. It brings interaction and provocative debate between cutting edge artists, performers, leading scholars, researchers, creative thinkers and the public. Intimacy will feature workshops, seminars, performances, and a one day symposium at Goldsmiths, University of London, Laban, and the Albany between, 7 – 9 December 2007.

Rachel Zerihan, Co-Director of Intimacy, said: “Dynamic and established artists will mix with innovative emergent artists to generate a dialogue and an experience that will encourage you to reconsider your thoughts about Intimacy and the environments that make and sustain it.”

Maria X, Co-Director of Intimacy, said: “There will be shows by live, digital and performance artists providing a platform for intimate interactions through various mediums including theatre, dance and community-led initiatives. These will enable the discussion of cultural practices concerned with displaying intuitive, intimate and visceral relationships between artist and other.”

An international collection of artists at the forefront of their fields including live artists Kira O’Reilly and Sam Rose; digital artists Tale of Tales, Alan Sondheim & Sandy Baldwin (In Second Life), Avatar Body Collision, Paul Sermon, choreographer Johannes Birringer and leading academics in the field including (Professor of Performance and Visual Culture at Roehampton University) Adrian Heathfield.

The event will respond to the cultural climate of (in)security, addressing our relationship to one another in environments of extreme closeness and heightened connectivity, with the explosion in one-to-one performances pointing to this trend.

The event is a must-see in the calendar of any artist/student as well as anyone with an interest in provocative, immersive and challenging performance.
