Why NOT go on Crusades?
Anti-clerical, violent, misogynistic, satirical, scatalogical, phagomanic, the Renard stories written in medieval France present a distorted parody of many literary genres. This paper examines them in relation to popular crusade literature, looking for contributions to a cultural understanding of the reception of crusade preaching in the medieval world.
