Dave Burrows, CTO SCEE PSN

Former TD for Wipeout, one of SCEE’s biggest games. Now TD with Sony’s new playstation network on-line games division.

Title:
"10 things to think about before you code a franchise".

Abstract:
So you've got a great game idea. That's a good start. But how do you turn the idea into a reality. With a blank sheet of paper and 18 months in front of you what should you be thinking. The presenter uses lessons learned from the WipEout codebase to introduce a set of 10 considerations to discus during the start of a new project. WipEout went though a similar process during it's last total rewrite in 2002. That rewrite was based on specific ideas and after 4 iterations covering 3 consoles, the systems and concepts envisaged 7 years ago are still used today.
