This very practical workshop is aimed specifically for members of research staff working on research projects.

About the workshop leader
Penny Clarke is experienced at delivering workshops particularly for research staff in career development and project management. She also delivers workshops in communication, conflict management and managing performance and coaches in leadership development for established and potential leaders and in enabling change. Her qualifications include an Advanced Diploma in Executive Coaching and the use of 360-degree feedback and a number of psychometric instruments. Penny uses these where appropriate in coaching, leadership, team building and development, and in working with individuals and groups on personal and career development.

Outline
This workshop will be very practical and each participant will be asked to bring an ongoing or future project with them to work on over the two days. Penny would like each participant to complete their own MBTI (Myers Briggs Type Indicator) profile before the programme, which she will arrange with you directly and confidentially (i.e. not through the College).

Outcomes
Following completion of this two day course, participants will be able to:

- recruit project team members
- lead a project using project management skills
- fully understand and carry out the responsibilities of a project manager
- plan the project through all of its stages
- use strategies for effective communication
- use influencing skills
- carry out risk assessment and contingency planning
- undertake a review the project

Who is this workshop for?
This workshop is aimed specifically for members of research staff working on research projects. We welcome members of the same project team as well as individual researchers. The Research Office and Staff Development encourage contract research staff to join this workshop as part of our commitment to the Concordat.
