This event is an experiment which aims to address the affectual aspect of film viewing.

This 4-hour event is an experiment which aims to address the affectual aspect of film viewing. We are going to take this afternoon of watching films and clips of films to work on ways of describing, measuring affect as well as discuss issues around the topic. All are welcome; feel free to come for all or any part of it. An approximate list of films and timings are below. Bring something to write or draw with and some paper for extra fun.

1 pm Opening Remarks, Rachel Moore

1:05 Lemon Hollis Frampton, 1 minute.

1: 15 Pasi Väliaho will present one sequence of The Severed Head from Louis Feuillade’s Les Vampires series.

1:45 1 or 2 film clips from Dan Strutt, tba.

2:00 Break

2:15 Tara Blake Wilson will present 2 films of Bali during 1937-9. One colour from the Wistrand Collection, one from the Margaret Mead Collection.

3:00 Break

3:15 Janet Harbord will present 2 clips, tba.

4:00 The Act of Seeing with One’s Own Eyes, Stan Brakhage, 31 minutes.
WARNING: Viewing this film has been known to cause serious trauma.

4:45 A-V Conclusion
