Event overview
This presentation will explore the potential of art and visual language to act as an instrument for social justice and political change.
The presentation will focus on the use and employment of visual language within polarised societies to question existing hegemonies while giving voice and a political platform to those marginalised by policy and negative action.
John Johnston is an artist and an educator who is currently teaching on a variety of arts in education courses at Goldsmiths. He has worked extensively in Northern Ireland and is presently developing a major cross community visual arts project in his native North Belfast. John has also developed a number of arts based projects in Zambia, Australia, Bosnia, Croatia, Serbia and the Middle East.
