Autumn 2010: Cinema and Sculpture
(Curated by João Gonçalves)

Screening:
Hand Catching Lead (1971) and Rail Turnbridge (1976) by Richard Serra

The autumn screening programme, explores the relation between Cinema and Sculpture.
Against the background of modernity, both mediums have presented the social, political and philosophical emergent with conflicting specters, and their meeting, may well redefine contemporary proposals. Focusing between vision and touch, absence and presence, as well as on death and on animism, the programme unfolds the theme in key cinematographic examples and in the way artists have taken on film as sculptural element. With one exception, sessions are planned for Friday evenings and both panel and open discussions are to be expected.
