Richard Tipping and Lawrence Upton. Richard explores the physical qualities of language as a sculptor and word-artist, exhibiting around the world. Lawrence Upton is AHRC Creative Research Fellow in Dept of Music.

Richard Tipping will be showing his video documentary of the late Bob Cobbing (shortly to be published on DVD from Artpoem, distributed in UK by Writers Forum) in which Cobbing illustrates his working methods for the camera and is seen in performance of the work he has just made with musician Hugh Metcalfe.

Richard will also preview his book Off the page (Writers Forum, to be launched on 30th October 2010)

He will be joined on stage by Lawrence Upton for the discussion of Cobbing; and the two also hope to perform from their recent collaborative work ANAGRAM GNOS.

Richard Kelly Tipping studied film, philosophy and literature at Flinders University and completed a doctorate at the University of Technology Sydney.
He lectures in media arts in the School of Design, Communication and Information Technology at the University of Newcastle, NSW.

He explores the physical qualities of language as a sculptor and word-artist, exhibiting around the world.

Lawrence Upton is AHRC Creative Research Fellow in Dept of Music, Goldsmiths, University of London. He has directed Writers Forum since 2002.
