Event overview
Alexandra Antonopoulou, and Eleanor Dare: Phi Books, the Phi Film and recent exploration of an embodied story telling interface using motion capture technology with the support of Marco Gilles, Department of Computing.
The Phi books is a collaborative project between Alexandra Antonopoulou, a designer and children’s book writer-illustrator and Eleanor Dare, a computer artist.
The Phi books use the house as a metaphor for interdisciplinary collaboration. The two researcher-artists use narrative, making and performance to explore how borders, walls and doors facilitate collaboration. At the moment they merge the physical with virtual by asking people to perform their house stories in a sensory animation environment.
With this system they map participant’s movements represented with lines as well as record them with video cameras. They can then compare the movements, lines and speech.
