Fifth Public forum from the Department for Visual Cultures on the theme of 'how to live together'.

The question "How to live together?" implies a consensus, but what exactly do we mean by this consensus? The 5th Visual Cultures Public Forum will explore this topic not only in relation to our Western context, but also with regards to the extreme situation that followed the genocide that took place in Rwanda in 1994: victims and killers cohabiting together for the last 18 years. A philosopher, a writer, and an artist will present their views on this topic, drawing inspiration from the writings of both Roland Barthes and Jacques Derrida.

Schedule:

- Isaïe Nzeyimana, Philosopher, National University of Rwanda (video interview)

- Christian Nyampeta, Artist and Film maker, Goldsmiths College

- Andy Stafford, Senior Lecturer, University of Leeds

Introduced by Jean-Paul Martinon, Goldsmiths College.
