Writing Between the disciplines at Goldsmiths

Writing Between the Disciplines: A celebration of writing at Goldsmiths
Call for Writings (CfW)

In 2012, we will mark 10 years of Writing Purposefully in Art and Design (Writing-PAD) and five years of the Journal of Writing in Creative Practice (JWCP) by dedicating the fifth volume to writing from Goldsmiths, University of London. This Volume, Writing Between the Disciplines: A celebration of writing at Goldsmiths, marks our gratitude for the commitment and support that Goldsmiths has given the Writing-PAD Network over the last decade. This initiative will also raise consciousness about the diversity of writings within its departments.

Volume 5 will consist of three issues of JWCP to be published every four months throughout 2012. Approximately 10 articles of up to 5000 words or equivalent are required for each issue. Here are the 4 key stages with deadlines:

Invited Papers - Stage 1: Invited guests wrote trigger articles to inspire and encourage further writings. Please read these articles before submitting for the remaining deadlines. The articles can be accessed (free to Goldsmiths staff and students) at the following link:

http://www.ingentaconnect.com/content/intellect/jwcp/2012/00000005/00000001

As you will see, these articles highlight the writings taking place in a range of departments; seek to instigate debates about writing, and inspire collaborations across Goldsmiths. They are integral to the collaborative workshop events.

Stage 2: A collaborative workshop was held on May 4th 2012. It attracted a variety of students and staff from a range of disciplines. Workshop participants were invited to listen to the authors present their short reviews of their articles, form teams based on their insights, and to conclude by co-writing a title. Since this time the collaborators have been writing a series of papers which will be submitted on June 18th 2012.

Stage 3: Send articles of up to 5000 words or equivalent, which may be accompanied by visual images. Deadline: 18th June 2012.

Stage 4: Send articles of up to 5000 words or equivalent, which may be accompanied by visual images. Deadline: 5th September 2012.

This call is open to Goldsmiths staff, students and alumni.
