The Idee Fixe Ensemble (Greece) will be performing music by Dmitri Smirnov, Elena Firsova and other Post-Soviet Composers.

To be performed in the presence of the composers.

Programme:
Galina Ustvolskaya: Trio (1949) for clarinet, violin and piano
Giorgos Kyriakakis: ‘beast west’ (2008) for bass flute and accordion
Sophia Gubaidulina: De Profundis (1978) for bayan solo
Edison Denisov: Two pieces for three instruments (1983) (flute, clarinet, bayan)
Panayiotis Dimopoulos: ‘I swear since seeing your face’ (2012) for flute, clarinet and piano
Elena Firsova: ‘Spring Sonata’ (1982) for flute and piano
Nikos Skalkottas: Sonata (1923) for solo violin
Dmitri Smirnov: Trinity Music (1990) for clarinet, violin and piano

The ensemble is comprised by a core of twelve musicians, which is widened or altered according to the needs of the artistic programmes performed. Its main artistic goal is the dissemination of contemporary music creation. The ensemble focuses on music written in the 20th & 21st century, seeking answers to questions concerning the names and the identity of this repertoire, the subtle silences, the unexpected influences, the deviations, the deletions and the ramifications of material which is still open and evolving.
