CONTEMPORARY ART TALKS

SIMON LING

Wednesday 5 December

Simon Ling constructs painting either 'en plein air' or where his subject is found in areas of non-descript urban or rural wasteland where nature and the man-made meet, and in the studio, where he fabricates elaborate tableaux largely made up of urban detritus. In focusing on objects and places that appear inconsequential or difficult to name or classify, such as areas that are neither city nor countryside but places in-between, Ling liberates his subjects from representing anything other than their own presence or material reality.
