Presented by Professor John Graham, Murray Fraser Professor, University of Calgary Religious Literacy Programme Seminar Series

This paper explores the emergence of the concept of spirituality within social work thinking, with particular emphasis on the past 15 years. The paper refers to some of the author’s own work with Bedouin-Arab communities in the Middle East, as well as with diverse ethno-religious communities in North America. It examines some of the currents within this scholarship, as well as some implications for professional social work practice and training.
