Brian Wood, Head or Arms Control and Human Rights, Amnesty International

Discussant: Eyal Weizman, Department of Visual Cultures

After two decades of lobbying, the Arms Trade Treaty was adopted at the UN earlier this year. What part did Amnesty’s campaign play in achieving this long-standing aim? How important was public support to the campaign? What can we expect the Treaty to achieve, and what difference will campaigning make to its success?

Brian Wood is Head of Arms Control and Human Rights at Amnesty International. He has been involved in Amnesty’s campaign for the Arms Trade Treaty for over two decades.

Eyel Weizman is Professor in the Department of Visual Cultures and Director of the Centre for Research Architecture at Goldsmiths. His recent research is on forensic architecture and humanitarian law.
