7 Mar 2014, 4:00pm - 5:30pm

167, Richard Hoggart Building

Event overview

Composer and performer Ashley Paul (Brooklyn, NY) will discuss her acclaimed musical practice that blends song forms and acoustic experimental writing, examine techniques in improvisation for composition, and show some of her work across media and with her own imprint Wagtail. The event will culminate in a live performance by the artist.

Selected accolades and press
Wire Magazine, Top 50 Releases of 2013
Pitchfork, Best Experimental Sounds of 2013
Number 1 on Byron Coley and Thurston Moore’s “Tongue Top Ten” in Arthur Magazine

Paul’s songs feel environmental; complicated constructions that hang together according to an elusive pointillist logic that trips over your ears with the sleight of hand of the greatest of improvisors…
David Keenan, Wire Magazine
